Interview No. 1 with the Instructor: Assignment Overview

Assignment Description:
Throughout the course, learners will engage in a term project. This project will
allow students to learn from experience as they start, run, and wrap-up a small
business or micro-enterprise within the course’s 14-week timeline. The overall
goal of the term project is to make both revenue and profit in the 14-week
timeline.
During the first half of the course, learners will have an opportunity to individually
meet online with the course instructor to discuss their experiences in planning
and launching the micro-enterprise.
During the first 10-20 minute interview with the instructor, be prepared to speak
to the following questions:
1. What are the location considerations for your small business start-up?
2. What is the market potential for this type of business?
3. Who is your competition with this type of business?
4. What are the perceived sales and profit potential for this type of business
by the end of Week 14 of this course?
5. What are the legal or regulatory factors that impact this type of business, if
any?
6. What other key issues have you discovered about starting this type of
business?
7. What questions do you have about the course to date or future
assignments?
Please Note: Interview with the instructor need to be booked in advance using
the appropriate Discussion Forums.
Two interviews with the instructor will occur during the course. The first occurs in
Week 5, and the second in Week 8.
It is the learner’s responsibility to call the course instructor at the agreed upon
due date and time.
