Evolution of enabling technologies that paved the way for modern ICT

I think the development of the Linux operating system is both a human and technological achievement. Lots has been written about Linus Torvalds, Richard Stallman, AT&T Labs, the online hacker movement, open source software, and the Free Software movement. I would suspect the Linux OS paved the way for other OS’s like android. You could give the back story of xnix OS’s and then discuss how it contributed to have our modern ICT….The human element (men who were passionate about software development) is an integral component of the paper.
