Mourning in America: The 1980s and the Rise of Trump

The 1980’s continue to capture a somewhat romanticized place in the American public imagination: Reagan’s assertion that “its morning again in America” persists to this day leaving a relatively positive and optimistic legacy of the period. However, the election of Donald Trump thirty years later threatens to undermine – maybe shatter – that image of the 1980’s.
