For this essay, I’d like you to craft a thesis that makes a comparison of a shared theme in The Great Gatsby and one (just one!) of these two stories. Use concrete textual analysis of characters, events, and motifs to support your overall claim. You are encouraged but not required to use outside sources, whether it be literary or film criticism or articles about the financial crisis, the Roaring 20s, the Great Depression, etc. Context and support from these sources can help establish your credibility, but I will be focusing on your own ideas/connections and how you present them to your audience. The paper must be at least four pages long in MLA format. A work cited page in MLA format is required but does not count in the length of the paper.
